Since its creation, MEDIAPRO has made significant and on-going investments in the research and development of tools and applications to facilitate the execution of projects with which it has been involved. The 20-strong R+D department develops its own projects in collaboration with European-wide research groups, high-profile universities and cutting-edge technology companies.

Image and video, audio, natural language processing and smart content are its principal areas of research. Many of its projects have now been commercially implemented: customised virtual advertising and automated event production; Mediacoach, a football analysis tool used by teams playing in the Spanish First and Second Divisions, which fuses real-time player tracking systems, stats and video; 3D production for television platforms; user Modeling for personalization of connected media and Social Networks Dynamics applied to brand consultancy and strategic marketing, and management tools as well as outdoor advertising optimisation applications.
